The Tennessee Court Reporter Act of 2009 signed by Governor Bredesen on June 23, 2009, requires that all court reporters in the state of Tennessee need be certified to work in our state. A grandfathering provision ensured that reporters currently working in Tennessee, after appropriate application, would continue to be able to do reporting in our state. The designation of Licensed Court Reporter (LCR) is the notification to look for to ensure that your court reporter is duly licensed to perform court reporting services.
All of our reporters are Licensed Court Reporters. In addition, our reporters are also certified by testing through the National Court Reporters Association, our national certifying organization. Competency is demonstrated by passing a vigorous test starting at speeds of 225 wpm up to 260 wpm, along with a written knowledge test. What that means to our clients is the knowledge and comfort that a highly-skilled professional certified court reporter will be working with you every step of the way!
Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 24-9-136 signed by Governor Bredesen on June 11, 2009, is the new anti-contracting law in our state. Omega Reporting does not and will not enter into any third-party agreements for services. Omega Reporting's team abides by a strict Code of Professional Ethics adopted by both the Tennessee Court Reporters Association and the National Court Reporters Association. We are the guardians of the record at all times.
